BIO
Kerry Nietz is the premier author of curious science fiction. He has fifteen speculative novels in print, along with two novellas, a handful of short stories, and a non-fiction book, FoxTales.
Kerry’s novel A Star Curiously Singing won the Readers Favorite Gold Medal Award and is notable for its dystopian, cyberpunk vibe in a world under sharia law. It is often mentioned on “Best of” lists. ASCS has spawned two sequels and a four-book parallel series.
Among his writings, Kerry's most talked about is the genre-bending Amish Vampires in Space. AViS was featured on the Tonight Show and in the Washington Post, Library Journal, and Publishers Weekly. Newsweek called it “a welcome departure from the typical Amish fare.”
Kerry is a refugee of the software industry. He spent more than a decade of his life flipping bits, first as one of the principal developers on FoxPro and then as one of Bill Gates's minions at Microsoft. He is a husband, a father, a technophile and a movie buff.

AViS has been optioned!!
August 11, 2019
...unh...I can't take it anymore. I have to tell someone!
Okay, here goes. On Friday I signed a contract with someone in Hollywood.
For what?
For "Amish Vampires in Space" (and its sequels). Seems someone out that way thinks my stories would make a good movie or series.
And I'm inclined to agree.
The technical term here is "optioned". It doesn't mean something WILL get made, but it does mean AViS has someone pulling hard to try to make SOMETHING happen.
Pretty cool, huh?
(Also, big kudos to author, friend, and lawyer James Scott Bell for his advice. He's trying to reach 100 subscribers on his Patreon page, so if you like an occasional mystery, check that out by clicking below.)
"Fraught" wins the Realm Award for Science Fiction
July 19, 2019
Surprised and honored to report that "Fraught' won the Realm Award for Science Fiction this year!
Surprised, because the other competition--Joshua Johnston's "Through Chaos" and A. Walker Scott's "No Road Among the Stars"--was outstanding.
Honored, because it is always a delight to be rewarded by a group I view as friends and peers. The winner of this year's Book of the Year was Linday Franklin's "The Story Peddler". You can see all the finalists below.
